About the Author: I have loved writing from a young age, so I have been doing this for most of my life. When I was in fourth grade, I won an Illinois Young Authors award for a story that I wrote and illustrated myself. The illustrating part has careened downhill over the years, but I still continue to enjoy my main craft of writing. I find a high amount of solace and satisfaction in generating stories. I wrote poetry throughout high school, and when I started college, I had two original poems published. I hope to someday publish an entire book of my poetry for all to read, but for now I have been posting them on my personal website. I am also working out a plot for an original fiction which I hope to publish one day. For now, I settle for the pleasure of writing fan fiction for both entertainment and as a means of keeping my writing skills fresh. With that said, because I have been a lifelong writer and I am also a teacher, I do not need lessons in writing styles, since everyone has their own individual style and voice. I am well aware that self editing is never completely foolproof, so I will often take my work to friends of mine whom I trust to give honest feedback. In the event that I or someone else catches a small error, such as the dreaded 'floating' letter that is NOT the article 'a', I'll usually correct it immediately. So unless it's mistakes like this, don't bother wasting the review opportunity. The combination of my age, experience, and the fact that I do this for a living should be a clue that I know what I am doing. I am not proclaiming that my writing is perfect; however, I do strive for perfection and I'm always working to improve as any good writer should. My writing fan fiction serves two purposes: 1). to practice and/or improve my ever-evolving writing skills and 2.) to entertain you, the reader. I try to review stories that I find, particularly from those who review mine. I do not believe in the abusing the review button for flaming someone because of their writing skill, or lack thereof, and I am highly offended if someone reviews my work in that manner or anyone else's. If you don't like someone's writing, the BACK button is on your browser for a reason. I try to teach my students that there is no such thing as a bad writer - only different levels of experience. I try to demonstrate that advice here by objectively reviewing works as though the author was my own student. Writing, like all the other art forms, takes years of practice to fully master. Therefore, if I leave a review on your story it will always be kind constructive criticism meant to help you improve as a writer, not discourage you from writing altogether because I know how hard it is to work up the courage to share your work with the rest of the world. In other words, I will find something good to say about the piece I am reviewing and if I see any area that needs work, I will bring it to your attention and make suggestions on how it can be fixed. So please, if you see a review from me and it's lengthy, I tend to be long winded, but at least I will be thorough and my intent is never to offend or ridicule! My aim is to help you grow as a writer and encourage you to continue! HAPPY WRITING! :) NOTE: My fan fictions, Among Thieves Are Angels, Past Reverberations, and Lupin and the Quest for the Silver Crystal have been removed for a complete and total overhaul. I may post them again at some point in the future, though I am not sure when that will be. Also, Mirror, Mirror is also undergoing a slight overhaul as well to correct a few things I overlooked and add historical notes. I have been updating the new versions of the chapters here, on deviantART, and on my personal website. So far I have completed up to Chapter 13. Sleeping with the Enemy has now been added to the editing list. I have finished editing most of the chapters on deviantArt, but I will soon be replacing chapters as well. |
