![]() Author has written 6 stories for Mass Effect, and Dragon Age. Hi everyone! I’m a fan and an anthropology grad student. I started my PhD on Dragon Age fandom in February 2013. I’m going to explore the powerful emotions that fandom stirs in us; how it drives us to write, draw, paint, make videos or mods, read stories, discuss characters, and replay games/scenes over and over again. This is based partly on my own experience with fandom, and partly on what I think is also important to other people. I’m focusing on Dragon Age fandom. This is because: a) I’m a huge Dragon Age fan girl myself, and b) it’s damned interesting. My hypothesis is that fandom is important to people because of the ‘feels’. Fandom is something that can make us laugh, cry, smile, or despair. From what I’ve read, people have surprisingly not focused too much on emotions in fandom scholarship. They look at what people are doing, but not on how people are feeling. I’d like to highlight the feelings. You can also find me in a few other places around the internet: Twitter |
