Author has written 3 stories for Fairly OddParents, and Harry Potter. What up. This is Mooney's Girl, two years older, with a changed name. A little about me: I am in love with languages. Absolutely. I also like Harry Potter and am anxious for the last book to come out. I used to watch Fairly Odd Parents a lot, but then my parents got rid of our TV channels. So now I just watch movies, which is alright with me. Crazy, creepy, funny, artistic, surreal, deep, superficial movies. I'm a complete movie buff. I also like writing stories that coincide with the author's original work. If you catch me on a good day, with the stars aligned, or if I find a grammatically correct synopsis, I might read a completely AU or OOC story. That's an emphasis on the grammatically correct part. Actually my favorite AU story is Literally in Hell With Draco Malfoy. I love it, and when I find the story again, it will be on my favorites list. Check it out. Pet Peeves: Grammar: Just because you don't have to pay to publish something, doesn't mean that it has to be less than 100 of your effort. Unless your story is in the second person (ie "you") you are not allowed to write in the present tense. Just don't even think about doing it. You don't tell stories in the present tense - don't write them in the present tense. There is nothing wrong with the suffix -ed...use it! Also, I don't know about everyone else, but I had to agree to proofread my work before I submitted it in. I am not trying to be hypocritical. I am prone to the occasional errors that I just manage to overlook. However, the key word is occasional. Netspeak and common typos not only make me stop reading the story, but make you look stupid. Author's Notes: Look, as much as this pains some people, the stories they write are not being read because they like the author, but because they like the story. Do NOT include these author's notes about how you can't update your story because your grandmother was sick as Hurricane Katrina happened while you gave your dog, Sam, a funeral in your back yard. But you'll update next Wednesday with a real chapter. Don't say it, do it. No matter how much it hurts, leave off the author note chapters. Plus, they just look silly when people start reading your story after its complete. Foreign Languages: I love foreign languages. Right now, I know French and a little Spanish. I am taking a Japanese class next semester. I study Arabic when the mood strikes me. Languages are my passion. That is exactly why it pisses me off when I see people try to put fancy titles/chapter names on their stories. Also, if you are going to use a language, make sure it is grammatically correct. No, translation sites do not work, no matter how much you want them to. If you use them, then you get people like me, flaming your work. Things I Like: Good Writing: There are many good writers on this site. I love reading those stories! Good Twists: Even when they don't work, I love it when writers try to break the cliche. Funny Stuff: I love to laugh. Relationships: What can I say, I'm a girl. I love Draco and Hermione, because I love when opposites attract. Its life's tragedy that we can criticize so much, yet have so little praise. ~Dankalish |
