![]() Author has written 3 stories for Transformers/Beast Wars. READ THIS PEOPLE IT'S IMPORTANT by Flarey pheonix Guys, This is really important, if you are an active writer and member over at fanfiction.net link it is CRUCIAL you read this message from BEGINNING to END. I've been observing it from the sidelines for awhile now, and have been noticing a lot of flames have been published on my friends from over there. I was not understanding what was going on, until I finally did some research in my fandom over there and found this message from a user called "Snow Falling". And she or he is explaining what is going on over there that's been happening more recently than some of us think. There has been a cult of flamers formed, known as the "Flamers". They go around to every fandom (I've seen them most active in the cartoons section) and they flame people that maybe are not necessarily the best writers on the site, or don't have as much experience with the art such as myself. This. Is. SERIOUS people o-o It's like the fandom war here all over again, only ten times Nastier. I've seen some of "Flame Rising"'s "work"... Everyone, what I have seen said in this fandom is NOTHING compared to what is happening to those more newer writers on ff.net. Here is what this "Snow Falling" has been posting in every section of the site: "Why Flame Rising will flame you Firstly, you have my humblest apologies. This is not a story, or a poem, and I am well aware that as such I am breaking several of the Terms Of Service of this site. But, I beg of you, rather than simply disregard this document, or report it for abuse, read it. Learn from it. It contains important information that can help to make this site a better place; as melodramatic as that may sound. So please, have patience, and I will tell you why I am here… Flamers. You may have heard of them, you may not. If you have heard of them, then you have most likely either been a victim of one, or know someone who has. You may even be a flamer yourself. If you have not been the victim of one of these individuals, then you are a lucky person indeed. For those who are not aware, a flamer is a bully. They write abusive, degrading comments or reviews to stories that they do not like. Whilst everyone has an opinion, and is entitled to such, these ‘flamers’ go too far. All too often, these twisted individuals harass their victim to the point of distraction, often forcing them to leave this site just to make it all stop. This can not be allowed to continue, for reasons I should not have to state here. Does that then mean that every bad review is a ‘flame‘? No. If someone genuinely does not like an author’s story, then they have a right to express that opinion. If we are only ever told about the good points about our writing, then we can never grow, or learn, or better ourselves. By hearing about the points that need work, the reviewer is pointing out something that we might not have noticed and need to work on. Appreciate that honesty. Thank them where possible. Ask the reviewer what you can do to improve. If you can’t do this, ask a friend. At the end of the day, no person is perfect. We all make mistakes. If you can not face that fact, then life, my friend, is going to be very sad for you. A flame, however, is something else entirely. A flame is written in a deliberately abusive manner, using terminology ranging from ‘You Suck!’ to swearing. The whole point of a flame is to put down the author for the gratification of the flamer. Like any bully, they get a kick out of putting other people down, because for a few brief moments, someone is more miserable than them. They don’t want to help you to improve; they just want to have good laugh at your expense. On the FanFiction site, there is a growing movement of flamers, who have started working their way through the various fandoms, attacking anyone who they view as an inferior author. There is even a forum named The Fireplace, run by an individual named Flame Rising, designed to be a meeting place for these bullies; a place where they can run down, deride and generally destroy whoever they choose. Ironically, the majority of the flamers that frequent this forum have posted no stories of their own. This just reinforces the point that these people are not criticising your work because they are interested in furthering the talent on this site. They are doing it because they have nothing better to do than make peoples lives a misery. If the flamers would only attempt to write something creative themselves, they would find it a more challenging prospect than they currently believe it to be. Then they may not be so eager to judge. Flame Rising is probably the worst culprit of this activity, even holding awards for the so-called ‘worst’ authors he has chosen to be his latest victims. The reasons he has given for this, as listed on his own profile page, are as follows: So there you have it. Maybe he didn’t receive enough attention as a child, maybe he just forgot to take his pills before he began his bizarre little crusade, and has been too embarrassed to stop. That’s not for me to say. One thing I can say, though, is that Flame Rising, and others like him, need to be stopped. They must not be allowed to keep putting people down. And there are several ways this can be achieved, without stooping to their level. First, report them to the site admin. By flaming you, these persons have broken several of the site’s Terms of Service. If as many people as possible complain as often as possible, then the offending individuals may be removed from the site. If this is done enough times, they will eventually get fed up with the situation and leave for good. Failing that, ignore them. Do not reply to any flames, do not even acknowledge their existence. note of my own: If you came here because you read my review in 'The matrix has you, Prowl' ... yeah, that was the most epic fail sh't I've ever made in the whole entire TF section, so if you want to scream at me /bite my butt off / call me a hypocrite then go right ahead! I deserve it for that stupid review. Hell it wasn't even the entire Review (my stinky connection thought it's time to throttle my actual review) I actually like the Story it's well written, the Humor is subtle but it made me smile and laugh a bit at the end. So why the f'ckin pit did I write that Idiotic sentence then? well believe it or not that was my Cruddiest joke that entered my mind because of the lines in the matrix *riiight, it was REAL funny... T_T* it was suppose to be a harmless banter but instead I got my Butt righteously bite off by Wicked Crazy (Thanks for the good slap on the head Wicked) and broke Mixchick's brain (...lol... sorry) and here I am wallowing in my Idiocy for now. so I went and Apologize to Mixchick (somewhat) and so on. but hell, the damage is already done and it's still there, so if you want to Slap me good in the head or throttle me becuase of that insensitive review then yeah go right head and PM me and vent it out. P.S. to Wicked crazy: Remember that I said I'll put down the 'hypocritic-sh't' out of my profile well, I like to keep it up there to serve as a reminder to that screw-up I made to Mixchick becuase I have no intention to becoming a Flamer back then when I Put that up, and I definitely have no intention on becoming one now. This is about a little girl who was abused, if My name is sarah I am but three, child abuse, MAKE IT STOP! If you actually gasped/screamed when the story above ended with murdered me, copy and paste this into your profile... This is a story about God. Read if you believe in him, and read even if you don't. A teenage girl about 17 named Diane had gone to visit some friends one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year. She ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away. As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked God to keep her safe from harm and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he were waiting for her. She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for God's protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped round her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safely. The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there. Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed. The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her. She asked if they would ask the man one question. Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall men walking on either side of her." Amazingly, whether you believe or not, you're never alone. Did you know that 98 of teenagers will not stand up for God, and 93 of the people that read this won’t repost it? REMEMBER WHEN? Remember When PUT THIS IN YOUR PROFILE IF YOU'RE STILL 5 INSIDE-NO MATTER WHAT AGE YOU ARE! FRIENDS: Will help me find my way when I'm lost FRIENDS: Will help me learn to drive. FRIENDS: Will watch my pets when I go away. FRIENDS: Will help me up when I fall down. FRIENDS: Will go to a concert with me. FRIENDS: Ask me for my number. FRIENDS: Hide me from the cops. FRIENDS: You have to tell them not to tell anyone. A friend helps you up when you fall, a best friend continues walking while saying "Walk much, dumbass?" FRIENDS: Would ignore this letter. This is a true story.A girl died in 1933.A man buried her when she was still alive. The murder chanted,"Toma Sota balcu," as he buried her.Now that you have read the chant, you will meet this little girl.In the middle of the night she will be on your celing. She will sufficate you like she was sufficated. If you post this on your profile, she will not bother you.Your kindness will be rewarded.Lucillia. |
