My passion for fitness started with what I consider an unusual connection. Growing up I liked two things: action movies and cars. My obvious idols were the likes of Swartzeneggar and Stallone, where one can see the obvious connection with exercise and weight training. The cars interest, however, kept me working in automotive garages and as hobbies, and anyone with first-hand experience working on cars knows it can be physically demanding. Well, I started to notice muscles taking shape with all the "wrenching" I was doing and figured it was time to setup my father's old weight set and see what I could do with it. Eventually, once I hit high school, I joined wrestling and the weight training had a new meaning, and some needed direction. I continued lifting but not as reigmented as when I met an old friend around grade 11 that had muscles popping out in seemingly perfect fashion, we named him "pecs". We worked out together for a couple years then it was off to University, and in search of a new workout partner. Though my University degree is not fitness related, I felt I ended up with a double degree given the amount of time I spent in the gym! Through University and afterward I started to coach people along in routines helping them build routines and refining ones they developed on their own. The satisfaction of seeing people respond to the routine progression and results accomplishment is what made it clear to me that personal training was in my future. All-in-all I have been involved in fitness to some extent over the last 17 years and have been occasionally helping people with their own training for 10 of those years.
