![]() Author has written 3 stories for Yu Yu Hakusho, Transformers, Hobbit, and Okami. Hello! I'm Rachel, or 'meeoh' or 'guri' or whatever my current online handle is at this point in time. My screen name here used to be 'meeoh-my' but I'm "rebranding" my online presence. I'm 27, a concept artist for video games, and I graduated from Laguna College of Art and Design in May of 2015. I started 2 stories several years ago and while I'd really like to continue both of them (especially Okami Tantei), the only one that I can realistically finish now is my newest story An Unexpected Guest because it already has a completed plot made for me to bounce off of. I will attempt to work on the others when I can but it might take a very, very long time. Enough with the somber stuff! I love love love fanfiction! It is such an amazing thing for people to write and publish things on the internet whenever they want, about anything they want. I wanted so badly to do it when I was younger and had plenty of time to write, but I was too much of a chicken-shit to do it. Now I'm 25 and I have barely enough time to do anything! So I gotta say: if you wanna do it, just do it! You'll make mistakes but you can learn from them. It's fun! My favorite stories in the Hobbit/LotR fandoms are 'girl(s) fall into Middle Earth and become the 10th Walker/16th Member of their respective companies but they're also... monsters!!' I.E. they've been turned into a creature or have always been a creature because that's almost always interesting for me to read. Unfortunately for me that's an incredibly niche market. I'm going to collect all the ones I can find anywhere I can. My favorite Transformers stories are about human/cybertronian interactions, but those are kind of rare and almost always done in a style that doesn't interest me. I see a lot of stories that hold cybertronians up on a pedestal and talk about how humans are destructive and bad and aliens can do no wrong, but those always overlook the fact that cybertronians have been fighting a war longer than humans have existed as a species, a war that usually (depending on which continuity) destroys their own planet in the process. It was always weird to me. So I like fics that address that and examine it. Something else I love as a concept: Mary Sues!! They're awesome! They're power fantasies for girls/women who are bombarded daily by male power fantasy stories and characters that are regarded as normal or the default. I wholeheartedly encourage them. I've even started planning my own mary-sue stories, except they won't get together with the male heroes in the end (hetero pairings bore me). Also, like I hinted at before, I draw! My Deviantart name is suriguri, and my tumblr is guri-lais. Story List: An Unexpected Guest: Hobbit (in progress) - A '16th Member joins the Company of Thorin' story. She is dropped in a new world with no memory of life before her arrival to Middle Earth, not even her name. Fix-it fic (maybe); the only pairing is really light Bagginshield. Every once in a while I go back to fix mistakes, and I'm not really sure if this alerts people or not? I hope it doesn't. But yeah that happens. [My Ao3 account -here- contains images related to the story, if anyone is interested in that.] Okami Tantei: Okami/Yu Yu Hakusho crossover (hiatus) - While the great Sun Goddess Amaterasu did not know what lied beyond the Spirit Gate, she certainly was not expecting this. She, alongside the Spiritual Detectives, will uncover the purpose for her presence in this level of existence. A Question of Ethics: Transformers (hiatus) - A story that examines the moralities of an alien race. Interaction story, mostly analytical, very loose plot. Updated Maria reference sheet here. |
