He traces his finger across lines and gears and well-oiled parts and it does not ask anything of him, only whirs and shifts and heaves like something alive that he cannot help but touch- he understands the machines because there is a code, a rhyme, and a reason. There is no guessing or blank spaces where something might go, only numbers, and it is something almost like love.

Part 2 of the "It's All in the Mind" series. Tony is a mutant. Tony is Iron Man. Tony is an Avenger. Tony…has some unresolved issues. Namely, the problem called Steve. Or maybe his overactive brain. Pick either.

Jack makes all kinds of exceptions, loopholes, and sacrifices for those he cares about, because he never wants to lose them before he has to. The team doesn't always agree with their Captain's decisions, but sometimes they do try to understand. One-shot during/after 'Meat'.

The aftermath, as how I see it. An apology has never been so difficult.

In an AU where instead of meeting Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers met Captain Jack Harkness, Steve would get his date after coming out of the ice. A partial retelling of Captain America and then post-Avengers reunion.

They called him paranoid. Pepper preferred the term cautious. Added little one shots, and then a look at the team's view on Tony.

Steve is homesick for his time and sets out to clear his mind, but when he comes across a man named Schmidt, blood is spilled and he goes missing. Knowing something is wrong, Tony is left to find him.

Its really hard to play it cool with a broken wrist and a dislocated shoulder, coupled with an unconscious Captain America who may or may not be bleeding to death internally against the wall of a subway tunnel. Lots of random stream of consciousness/nervous babble from Tony :D No slash, just bromance! Rated for language
