Author has written 13 stories for Fairy Tales, Beauty and the Beast, Glee, Rock of Ages, Muppet Show, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Bones, Doctor Who, and Little Mermaid. Hi, I'm Philomena Rose (my pen name, anyway), but you can call me Mina/Philly for short. I am a major theatre geek, and I love Disney. I am addicted to writing stories, mostly original fiction, but some fanfic. You can find me on tumblr under the same username, just without the spaces. Here's some summaries/backstories of what I've written so far: Short Stories: "Lab Rats and Lost Souls" - I was inspired to write this shortly after the end of Season 8 (during which I managed to catch up with the whole show from the beginning - major props to Netflix and Hulu) while reading a few fan theories and the like. I'm not sure how you guys feel about my OC, but if you don't like her, I mostly only created her (after watching an interview regarding whether the writers planned to/would be able to bring Zack back) to serve as "the new kid" who doesn't really know his backstory, thus justifying a way to explain to viewers who don't remember/weren't watching the first few seasons, but without having to go so far with it as to bore the people who do remember. (Writers of the show, if you're reading this, feel free to steal my potential solution for season 9.) "Study Buddies" - I am a huge fan of both Leaf and Logainne, so I wanted to write something for them. Originally I wrote the first chapter as a one shot, but then while trying to think of some good fanfic ideas, this plotline was imagined. So, from there I did some rewriting, and ended up my first actual short story on here. It's not my best work, but it's the first fanfic I've written with an actual plot. And also, I had to kinda play around with the ages a bit regarding the National Spelling Bee eligibility rules vs. the canon and whatnot, so I'd place them at approximately 8th grade/14 years for Logainne and 11th grade/16 years for Leaf.
"Red's Story" - This was requested and inspired by a friend of mine. We were having a discussion about the fairytale "Little Red Riding Hood," and at one point, he said something to the effect of, "The Big Bad Wolf could have been a girl!" (even though, ironically, he was the character in a play once) which he later expanded into, "Little Red Riding Hood could have been a boy. Boys can wear hoods." So, I ended up writing this story for him.
"Prima Donna of His Heart" - I was inspired to write this when I got home from a rehearsal for my theatre group's production of Beauty and the Beast. I was skimming through the the movie's fanfic, but while I found a lot of Lumiere/Babette stories, I couldn't find any Cogsworth/Mme. Bouche stories, so I decided to write this. "Never Saying Goodbye" - I wrote this one about a year prior to posting it when I was looking for more serious monologues to try out during acting class. It's inspired by Kurt's line "I'm never saying goodbye to you," from the episode "Born this Way." Dedicated to a friend who was the Blaine to my Kurt in a Glee RPG we did with our friends. "In the Dead of the Night" - So, I was listening to the Rock of Ages OBC soundtrack on my iPod on the way home from a road trip, particularly the song "Every Rose has its Thorn," and I realized that (correct me if I'm wrong) Regina was the only main character that didn't get a line in the number. So, while contemplating this, I opened up a "Notes" page and began to type a little of what she might have been thinking during that scene. And then I wrote chapter two through Franz's POV the next day during my spare time in class...and some not so spare time...but I didn't get caught so it was worth it. XD "Remembering" - The title is a little lame/unoriginal, and the characterization probably isn't perfect, so I'm sorry about that, but I put all my heart into it. I typed this up as soon as I found out that Jerry Nelson had passed away, knowing I had to do something in tribute to such a great artist who impacted my life the way he did. "Arpeggios and Anthropology" - This might be the only Swaisy fic inspired by a Muppet song, please correct me and direct me over to the other(s) if I'm wrong. I was listening to Matt Nathanson's cover of "I Hope that Something Better Comes Along" (the first lines of which are quoted at the end of the fic) from The Green Album when my mind started to wander and it reminded me of when the group split up in between seasons 5 and 6. After rewatching 5's season finale and 6's premier, I ended up with the premise of this drabble on my mind. "I Hate Myself for Loving You" - Like any Zack fan, I was seriously depressed after the season 3 finale. I noticed that there were several fics depicting various characters' responses to that event, but very few fics at all included Naomi from Paleontology. Now, maybe it's just my obsession with minor characters combined with the facts that I loved Zack and that in first grade I really wanted to grow up to be a paleontologist and that I like cows (Halloween episode of season 3), but I was very interested in her as a character. So I killed two stones by attempting to write what her response might be. And the title is a reference to the Joan Jett song, of course. |
