![]() Author has written 1 story for G. I. Joe. Rei Sengoku is an aspiring writer. He currently lives in Hilliard, Florida where he spends much of his time working in retail or spending time with friends and family. He hopes to one day finish his Bachelor's Degree in English, and move into the realm of auto mechanics for fun or profit. Rei has been writing stories since his childhood, sharing short stories with his friends at first. When Rei reached high school, he started working on more complex and longer pieces as both personal projects and collaborative projects with close friends. Rei currently writes fan fiction for the G.I. Joe Franchise, one of his favorite television programs and comic series when he was young. Rei is also an artist, some of his art can be found on his deviantart account. Interested persons can also view his word press blog, Life on the Grid. What can I say, in spite of all the writing I do I still can't think of an interesting biographical paragraph. Generally, I like to write...a lot. After some time of wandering from series to series with fan fiction, I finally found the best fit for me. I grew up with G.I. Joe, starting with the television show when I was a kid and moving right along with the later incarnations of the franchise. I've been inspired to write fan fiction for G.I. Joe mostly because of my desire to write, and seeing things like "G.I. Joe Resolute" which took the characters that I love and put them into a whole other context coupled with realism that was lacking in the original Sunbow cartoon. I've seen the way that G.I. Joe has reinvented itself with the comics, films, animations and felt that I'd like to take my own crack at it while trying to remain faithful to the source material. I will say that I have not served in the military, and so I apologize for any factual mistakes I may make in my writing (if I make one, and you know the proper information please feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to make corrections). The Fall of Springfield is where it all begins. In this piece I will introduce my own take on the origins of G.I. Joe and Cobra alike. The origins for this particular story came about one day because I was thinking about how to try and make Major Bludd appear a bit more menacing than he originally was in the television show. That led to a brief one shot story (which was later touched up and worked in to this story as chapter two) about him breaking into Springfield and causing havoc. Then I decided that I wanted to try and look at another origin for G.I. Joe, and the rest started to fall into place. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle! Notes on The Fall of Springfield: The piece is coming along nicely, in spite of long pauses between chapters because of work or family. It's still close to about a third of the way through my original plans. While working on this piece, I've already started making some plans for the sequel piece which is currently untitled so there will be more to come. |
