Having been treated as a servant his entire life, Harry is more sympathetic when Dobby arrives, avoiding Vernon's wrath and gaining a bit of freedom. That freedom changes his summer, his life, and the world forever. A very long character-driven story that likes to play with canon.

This story starts at the end of Harry's third year, and continues thru his seventh. There is action in many of the chapters, but I believe the overwhelming focus should be the main characters. I'm trying to write about a realistic and honest relationship between Harry and Hermione, that in turn, will change everything, from the Triwizard Tournament to the downfall of Voldemort.

Canon bks 1-5 AU thereafter. Starts at the end of Book 5, where the warnings given to Vernon produce the opposite result. New Prophesies are revealed which spell trouble for those who want to control Harry. Rating changed due to violence. HHrL NG RSB

Hermione begins to learn the truth after Harry is named a Tri-Wizard Champion. The solution is not what either extect. Mostly H/HR but it won't seem so. Some Ron and Dumbledore BASHING, but not much...

In the station between Life and Death Harry makes a different choice. Now he is eleven again, nothing is going the same as before, and people are starting to ask questions, especially the Malfoys, the Hogwarts professors and, most worryingly, Mad-Eye Moody. Harry is beginning to suspect that he might not be up to this Master of Death business and everything that goes along with it.

Harry allows Ron to compete for him in the tournament. How does he fare? This is a Harry/Hermione story with SERIOUSLY Idiot!Ron Bashing. If that isn't what you like, please read something else. Complete but I do expect to add an alternate ending or two.

My own response to Reptilia28's challenge. Harry died in the battle with Voldemort. What happens when he meets the Grim Reaper? Especially when the Reaper isn't happy with him. Rating changed to more appropriate one. HHr. Other pairings as they come.

So maybe everything didn't work out perfectly for Harry. Still, most of his friends survived, he'd gotten married, and was about to become a father. If only he'd have stayed away from the Veil, he wouldn't have had to go back and do everything AGAIN.
