CHARACTER X MARY SUE / CHARACTER X GARY STU IS NOT FANFICTION -- Mary Sues and Gary Stus are unbelievable characters, but when you put them next to a believable character from any kind of game, movie, book, comic, television program, etc., they make your entire story look horrible and fake.

CROSSOVERS CAN ONLY BE DONE BY CERTAIN PEOPLE -- NOT EVERYONE CAN WRITE CROSSOVERS AND MAKE THEM LOOK GOOD. Stop trying.

PLOTS ARE ACTUALLY GOOD -- A story without a plot is no longer a story, but rather an elaborate web of words that, as more words add to, becomes more and more tangled in itself.

SONGFICS ARE NOT COOL -- No, seriously, there are a few extremely good songfics out there, but - let's face it - not everyone can interweave a song into a story made by characters that do not belong to the author.
