This story will follow the exploits of Daryl Dixon and Beth Greene after the fall of the prison in the Season 4 Midseason Finale. Having lost their home, their family, and friends, Daryl and Beth are forced to set out on their own. The brutality of their world and their survival instincts will set them on a course to form a bond they never expected.

Twenty-one years later, Daryl and his daughters are on the road headed South to overtake and rescue a village from the grips of an evil dictator. Beth's been waiting her whole life to meet him. Daryl's only certain of one thing: staying far away from her, far from the places a girl named Beth could possibly be, was the best idea he's had his whole damn life.

This fic starts as Beth walks up to Dawn in Coda. Beth made one horrible decision and it could cause her, her life. Daryl had searched high and low for her and he wasnt going to give up on her now, he would fight for her, even after her last breath, he needed her, why? ZA AU. In the five years that follow the walker outbreak, much of civilization is destroyed by the infection. Survivors live in heavily gauged safezones, and nomadic groups. One survivor, Daryl Dixon works as a smuggler for both the army and the rebel group known as the Fireflies. He is given the task to escort a young blonde woman out of the city who just may be the key the cure.

Daryl never opened the mortuary door that night, and he and Beth discover that, despite the moments of fear and darkness, it is a lovely place to be.
