A loosely-knit group of eight friends agree to play a reality-altering game, inadvertently bringing about the end of life on Earth. After being teleported into the world of the game, faced with extinction, the last living humans in existence struggle to keep each other alive in a dangerous and fantastical new world.

The Knight Lautrec has stumbled upon a terrible realization: Lordran is being cycled over and over endlessly by a stream of 'Chosen' heroes. Now he's intent on finding a way to put an end to the madness, and is enlisting the aid of Quelana, Mother of Pyromancy, Patches the Hyena, and others to resolve this eternal conflict - and break the cycle.
