Jim was never sought out by Christopher Pike to join Starfleet, hence he never becomes a cadet. But he admires U.S.S Enterprise and especially admires the First Officer of the fleet, Spock. When Jim meets Spock by accident during U.S.S Enterprise shore leave, he was disappointed that his hero was a prick and what more, Spock seems to hate his guts. And Spock is his neighbour.

Spock/Fem!Kirk. Just because things happened in one time-line, doesn't mean they have to happen in this one.
