Claire loved Gray; she thought she'd made it perfectly clear. Or at least somewhat so. So it's no surprise that when Gray gets engaged to Mary, things turn sour. (OOC for the purposes of the story; who knows how mad you could go if someone you loved got married. It's the worst kind of betrayal).
