The Duo that is HaloLinna and Tobygirl

What started out as a friendly exchange of ideas and interactions on the original RWML (Ronin Warriors Mailing List) way back in the mid to late 90's turned into a writing odyssey that would span the next 10+ years. HaloLinna (Linna) living on the east coast and Tobygirl (Toby) across the midwest would continue expanding their ideas, letting their original characters and Cannon "clones" evolve into complicated, detailed, unique "people" given their own universe that now stretches far outside the small family owned and run dojo next to their long-time friend's large sprawling new-age house dubbed the Tin-Can.

Toby: They don't know what a Tin-Can is, Lin.

Linna: ...I never got around to actually sketching out what I always pictured the Tin-Can as looking like. It doesn't matter, we're posting our Sailor Moon off-shoot first. I have time.

Toby: ...this is true. Carry on.

Ahem* We, Toby and Linna, have been writing stories cooperatively for almost 15 years, usually in the format of "posts" back and forth alternatively. We feel this gives the story a very unique feel to it, as one person has never truly dominated the story or plot lines. This actually works out for the best seeing as we each have a list of characters we have created and that we "control". Actually, it's more like dictating. Though we each will speak for each others characters when needed in the story. It proves to be a challenge, trying to make sure we understand that character the other has created so that we can channel that character well when writing. It's a lot of fun. If we get stuck, we end our post and pass that torch off to the next person. That way we can make sure not to cross any lines when it comes to the other's characters.

It also helps that after almost 15 years of writing with each other, we practically live in each other's heads. It's amazing how you can wake up and rattle off an e-mail to the other with an idea or a thought on the direction the story is going, just to get an e-mail not three seconds after you sent yours with the exact same idea. ^^;

This is the first time we will be sharing any of our works. Please be kind in your criticism. We work very hard on our stories, and our characters. They are constantly evolving. Linna works tirelessly on illustrating the characters, which you can find in her DA gallery (, obviously), to bring faces and life to that which lives in our heads. We also try very hard not to make things too out-of-this-world by taking care of loop-holes, double standards, and doing our best to make sure whatever happens is explained properly so things don't get carried and swept away into Mary-Sue Land. Comments are welcomed. We are not Homer, or Dickens, or Ann Rice, but we write the best we can. We hope you will enjoy the worlds we have created as much as we are proud of them!
