Unlike the hoverboard in ‘Back to the future II’, these hoverboard can’t levitate. Nonetheless, they still move around with the help of rolling wheels across the ground. It may sound lame to you but truth be told, they are far more fun to ride than any skateboard.

The more accurate name to give these boards would have been ‘self-balancing scooter,’ and what you get is a gadget that is two-wheeled. Excluding the handlebars, these boards work more like a miniature Segways and move forward when you lean forward and brake and reverse when you lean back. As with a Segway scooter, you ride hoverboard facing forward contrary to what facing to one side when riding skateboard. With subtle movements of your feet, legs and torso, you control and steer them.

They are equipped with two pressure-sensitive footpads which you use in controlling your speed and steer with your feet. On stepping on, the board begins to move making them tricky to mount and dismount. With no handle to steady oneself, it can be tough to get balance and easy to fall off. However, these happen when you start getting yourself used to the board. To keep yourself balance, you will need to use your core and you stand a chance of experiencing burn in your calves and feet since you steer with the help of muscles in those area.
