Life is just like a novel. It has twist and turns and sometimes you just feel like it’s not real and it can’t happen. I once thought that but it wasn’t until my thirteenth birthday that I got what I call a reality check

For my whole life people always laugh at me because I was born on Friday, December the 13th and I was called Bad Luck Lanna. That name has stuck with me my whole life. Once on the first day of 7th grade, my 3rd period teacher was doing roll call and when she got to that horrible name, Alanna Veralidaine Maine, I stood up and said “I like to be called Lanna.” I did that because a lot of teachers want to know your nick-name so that they can be your “friend” and it should have been at that but it wasn’t

“No Miss Robin, she likes to be called Bad Luck Lanna,” a voice said beside me said. The owner of the voice was one of my most hated rivals, Jean May. Jean May was the most popular and most beautiful girl in the whole school. She could get any guy by flicking that pretty strawberry-blonde hair and shine her bright blue eyes. With me it’s different. I have dark auburn hair that just loves to fall in my face and green eyes, that I have to say is my best and only good feature, that looks like emeralds.

Well back to Miss Robin, she is just like Jean May but older and was probably the most popular in her school “back in the day”, thought that my name was just hilarious called me and has been calling my that for the whole year this far.

Well everyone calls me that name and nobody really likes me. People seem to think I would bring them bad luck but that is so lame if you ask me. So nobody comes near me except my best friends, Judy Evans, Larry Hayman, Louis Pierre, Craig Wood and Brent Young, maybe the only people who would be friends with Bad Luck Lanna
