Modern AU. Enjolras wants one more night in his favorite cafe before he and his partners must flee the city, just because they stole a few million from various rich families. She wonders how he survived the war, while he wonders how to survive her cooking. He's angry because his destiny's been changed, and she's angry because he doesn't know how to be anymore.

Details the years, months, and days leading up to the revolution, and all that happened between the two of them.

"'We shall hold fast for as long as there is breath. We shall endure for as long as there is hope,' he promises in a voice fairer than gold and brighter than glory. 'Damn,' she sighs, 'there goes my weekend.'" The revolution lasts longer than expected, and Enjolras and Éponine go a little stir-crazy at the barricade.

"He lets her go and she scurries away, and in his mind Grantaire's sneering because of course Enjolras wouldn't know how to hold on to a woman, even the slips and tatters of one." Enjolras and Éponine find each other in little cracks of time before the revolution, and then once more at the barricade.

"He was just a copy. But she felt his skin against her own. And their hands fit together perfectly. Despite her mind's wishes, her body refused to comply. For the first time in years, she felt comfort and safety and belonging." Rose Tyler looks back on her life since she was sacrificed on a beach.
