Small firms continue to face difficulty in securing the finance they need, and as we enter 2012, working capital finance will be the main priority for many. As many as two thirds of small businesses feel they are unable to rely on banks to fund their business finance requirements. This includes renewal of existing facilities such as overdrafts and new loan requests for a wide range of standard business funding activities. The loss in confidence and concern over the availability of what many see as basic business funding from the banking sector was highlighted in a recent survey carried out by Huddlebuy.co.uk, the online business to business deals site. The survey was conducted with a thousand small business owners, of which 65 per cent responded that they are likely to source their business funding from outwith the banking sector.
