As a fic writer for The Fosters who is almost solely interested in Stef and Lena, I've had a tumultuous relationship with the show. Thus, my inspiration to write has been as full of ups and downs but somehow I always wind up coming back to them. With the announcement of the impending cancelation of the show, I feel more than ever that these characters are mine to delve into. Whatever, and however much, I choose to continue writing for this ship, I want to be clear that I'm basically writing them in my own universe at this point. Canon only matters as much as is necessary for context but even then, within canon the timeline is so messed up that the kids ages are all questionable and the timeline is something that would make more sense on a sci-fi show than a realistic drama. So, I'll be writing from my own universe, with the timeline I prefer. I might consider making some kind of mock up of the timeline I'll be working from. I'm not really sure. But either way, please go into my fics knowing that canon is neither here nor there and anything from small details to major plot points may not be relevant to what I'm writing. Do with that info what you will. Hopefully it won't end up mattering to anyone who still reads my work but if it does, that's okay. At this point, I'm here for me and anyone who wants to live in a world where Stef and Lena are the happy, thriving core of the beautiful family we were given during those first ten episodes.
