It's been ten years since they returned the heart to Te Fiti. Maui gives Moana a gift to celebrate. She's not exactly thrilled about it.

Four years after their first adventure, Maui realizes that he has fallen in love with his best friend, who is now a beautiful young woman. When her father announces a betrothal competition with Moana's hand in marriage as the prize, how will Maui, an immortal demi-god, ever hope to win his wayfinder's heart?

Maui and Moana kept their word. They did see each other out there. Quite a lot. Maui has been hanging around Motonui for years, regardless of him having every opportunity to fly away and not return for a very long time. He knows what's keeping him there. She knows what's keeping him there. Maybe it's about time they admitted it to themselves. And then, perhaps, even to each other.

Two years after her adventure on Te Fiti, Moana is now the Chief of Motunui. However, when she is given Tangaroa's heart by the ocean, she becomes a very clueless new demigoddess. Unsure what to do, Moana travels to find Maui, who can help her. But with an angry comet god named Auahituroa after the heart out of revenge, will Moana be able to protect it?

Part One of the Purakau stories. Moana, now the new Chief of Motunui, rushes off to rescue Maui from the clutches of the goddess of death in the face of another crisis on her island.
