![]() I never really know how to introduce myself, so, instead of introducing myself, I am going to tell you a story. This story, I opine, will give you a clear understanding of just exactly who I am, or at least, how I am. Circa age 8: I found out that tomatoes were actually a fruit. Circa age 12: I found out that tomatoes were only called vegetables because of tariffs on fruits and vegetables. Circa age 15: I found out that in the U.S. Supreme Court case Nix v Hedden the tomato was officially ruled a vegetable in the United States. This got me to thinking. I devised the theory that because tomatoes were only ruled a vegetable by the U.S. Supreme Court, they could not possibly be considered a vegetable in other countries. (Canada specifically!) Age 16/17: I took a Psychology class with a Canadian teacher. I continuously pestered him to find out for me whether or not tomatoes were fruits or vegetables in Canada. A few weeks later, with no answer, I began drawing tomatoes on my homework assignments, tests, projects, the dry-erase, post-it notes, anywhere I could draw a tomato and leave it in that classroom for him to find as a reminder. 1 semester later, and with still no answer, I took another class of his. Keyboarding. Now there is a class I do not need! During this class I CONTINUED to bother this poor Canadian teacher until finally, one day, he brought me physical proof that tomatoes were indeed considered a fruit in Canada. I know that has nothing to do with fanfiction, but really I just wanted you to get a sense of the degree to which I will take an obsession. It's downright frightening. |
