I'm just some guy who likes reading fanfics and writing long reviews. Maybe some day I'll write a fanfic of my own, but I doubt I have the skill.

List of things I dislike in Naruto fanfiction, in no particular order:

Naruto getting horribly abused to the point of nearly dying on a regular basis

It doesn't make sense, because:

As a Namikaze he's useful politically and would have a bigger pull than even Uchiha.

As a jinchuuriki he's potentially the greatest weapon of the village, or their greatest nightmare if he turns against Konoha but manages to survive. If he dies, the Kyuubi will be reborn somewhere and that'll be an incredible mess. From the manga we know people couldn't be just ignorant about this, because jinchuuriki have been around for a long time, and Kushina was one. The people on the top definitely have to be aware of how all this works.

As the son of a hokage, who was a great friend of seveal very important and still alive people, it's absolutely inexcusable that they wouldn't have him taken care of. And then there's the Fourth's request for him to be seen as a hero.

The hokage is not powerless to stop it. There's nobody higher. He also has no excuse not to keep track of how Naruto is doing for the above reasons. In fact in canon it's pretty clear he speaks to Naruto fairly often, so he ought to be quite well informed.

Overall, no matter how people see him, weapon or son of Hokage, there's no way he would be left to get beaten up and feed from trash cans. He's too useful for that. It could happen maybe at most once, before the hokage dispenses some horrible punishment on the attacker, but Naruto having to hide from mobs on his birthday? No freaking way.

Writers arbitrarily bumping character ages up because sex between young characters makes them uncomfortable

Sure, 13 is a bit early. But we're talking of a world where at that age, just to give a few examples:

Sasuke's declaration of having an ambition to kill somebody is taken by Sakura as cool, Naruto just hopes it's not him, and Kakashi doesn't seem to mind, so overall it's not a big deal and not considered a reason for mental therapy.

12 year olds get sent on missions where they may have to kill people (even if they expected bandits and not Zabuza).

12 year olds take part in an exam that's often deadly (3 killed by Orochimaru, 3 by Gaara, 3 possibly by Kiba's team, Dosu later got squished by Gaara) and that if passed gives you responsibility over other people's lives.

People like Gaara are running around quite freely and get to participate in said exam despite squishing people and making death threats on a daily basis.

After Orochimaru outright tells Kakashi that the Sound village is his, nobody gives a crap, and his genin are still free to wander around Konoha (seriously, WTF? One of the reasons why I like fics with them changing side)

And the readers don't seem to find much problem with stuff like the above happening. IMO, if Naruto had consensual sex at 13, that'd be one of the least freaky things to feature in the story. As far as I'm concerned, in Konoha one is fully adult at 12.

Bad grammar

If you're going to write, figure out how to do it in such a way that makes sense.

One thing in particular: a spellchecker is not a replacement for proofreading. Spellcheckers happily let you use the wrong, correctly spelled word. They also don't catch missing punctuation, incomplete sentences and missing words.

Bigger breasts is better

It's quite frequent that whenever there is a timeskip, or a character evolves by way of some technique or Kyuubi influence, the list of improvements often includes enormous assets, as if that somehow made one a better person, or even just prettier. That's not to say it's wrong either, but I don't think it should be treated as character improvement.

So take a contrary opinion from a man: There's absolutely nothing wrong with having modest proportions, and there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Too big can be outright freaky, and if you disagree, go google for some photos of Lolo Ferrari. My personal opinion is that post-timeskip Hinata is a bit too big, and Tsunade is definitely too big.

Similarly, Sakura growing long hair again shouldn't be done without a good reason. She cut it short for character development reasons and it shouldn't be undone just because that'd be prettier.
