I've mentioned that I may run out of different scenarios of bringing Thanduil and Tauriel together through whump and Aquamoon suggested the following: placing Tauriel far away and Thranduil making a sudden appearance for his own reasons to claim her back. This is my attempt at the above.

The life of Thranduil has never been easy. After his Father died in the battle against Sauron, he became the King of Woodland Realm, Mirkwood. He found suitable wife and they had a son, Legolas. After that things started going badly, a suffering after another. Galarel stepped forward to take her part in helping the Mirkwood and it's King. (The title is a quote by John Galsworthy.)

After the battle. A look into Thranduil's thoughts concerning his Captain. Prompt was "find a quote from something and write a small story based on that". Quote from Will Scarlet, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.

' "You are back." "I promised you, did I not?" Tauriel asked, half-smiling.' Sixty years have passed since they last saw each other and things have changed... (The final installment to "Change of Heart" & "Free Spirit". Can be read separately).

Although having only known him for a few short weeks Tauriel is left shocked and grief stricken following the battle of the five armies and Kili's death. Left struggling to find closure for a love she would never have considered possible, she returns to Mirkwood and will either wither or be rebuilt under Thranduil's watchful gaze.

[Spoilers for BoTFA] Ashamed of her conduct during the Battle of Five Armies, Tauriel returns to Greenwood with her King to resume her post as Captain. How Tauriel and Thranduil come to reconcile after so many disputes.

Ship AU: Thranduil lost his wife years ago to war. After the death of the dragon, there is a group of humans who are causing problems. One sparks Thranduil's interest and heats things up.

Thranduil suddenly finds himself severely wounded and he has no idea as to where he is or how he got there. All he knows is that he must have fallen from great height and that he is Close to dying. With no hope left he looks back upon his life and regrets a lot, deeds done and deeds he should have done. Thranduil/OC. Angst and romance, rated M for later Chapters which will follow.

Set after the beheading of the orc in the Hobbit movie. Thranduil returns to his chambers after hearing about the One, trying to reign in the surfacing fear of a second Dagorlad. And there is only one person who helps him facing the darkness within him.
