After graduating from high school, Christopher went on to Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU), where he successfully walked onto the men's tennis team, a feat that had rarely been accomplished at the then top ranked Division I school. It was at FAMU that Christopher acquired the skill that would later lead to his career as pro tour stringer. Christopher took to stringing immediately and the team soon realized that their game was better when Christopher strung their racquet.
