![]() I am a native of the Kuiper Belt, émigré to planet Earth, now living as an American expat in a country that is both politically oppressive and incapable of producing watchable TV. My spotty television consumption for the last decade has been courtesy of the internet -- occasionally Netflix when I'm in country -- but mainly gleaned from fan fiction. Kudos and heaps of thanks to all you writers who bring the serials, films and characters you love to life, gratis! Your generosity is much appreciated. I discovered T:SCC very recently, watched all two seasons online; consequently, SCC is what I'm reading for the foreseeable future. Current binge aside, I'm not captive to any one TV universe or fiction genre. Speculative fiction on the lives of biblical and historical characters is rather awesome though...is there any to be found on fanfiction.net? I love storytelling in any prose or dramaturgical form that focuses on strong, well-drawn female characters. Action-oriented plots are great but without palatable prose, good dialogue and insightful character studies I find the reading can be a chore. Easier said than done, right? My challenge for this year is to try my hand at fiction writing. In the meantime, I read lots, read carefully and aim to learn from everything I read. As thanks for all the free reading, I'll do my best to review constructively. Dear author, I may be reading your swansong this very moment! 2011/07/24 OBSESSION: Stories, of any length, written in the present tense |
