For twenty years, I was a busy District Nurse, living and working in Rutland. I had previously been based in the city centres but when I got the chance to take up a new position in the hidden rural peace Rutland it was like a dream come true.
Little known to many people Rutland is the smallest and one of the most historic counties in England and is known to some as the ‘other' Cotswolds. It is quiet, peaceful and agricultural with many animals and many animal loving people.
My job could be heart-breaking at times, but I thoroughly enjoyed visiting patients in their own homes and meeting their animals who, particularly in the case of the many elderly people on my case load, were often their only companions and greatest source of comfort.
When personal circumstances forced me to take an early retirement from nursing, it seemed obvious to me that I should combine my love of the county, with constantly meeting new people and especially their animals, by offering a personal service which combined caring for both humans and especially their animals.
I attended instruction at my local veterinary hospital, to care for domestic animals and now offer my time as a house sitter and a pet carer. The humans can go on holiday or attend an appointment safe in the knowledge that their home and their pets are safe.
I can pop in to feed the cat or the fish, let the dog out or if necessary I am happy to live -in and keep the house occupied and safe while they are away. I am love all animals but to learn more about what services I can offer and to read some of my testimonials please visit my website Care For Pets At Home.
