Zeus offers the heroes immortality. Annabeth declines because she remembers her promise with Percy when they were in Tartarus- that they would go to New Rome together. He is too hungry for power, and became the heir to the throne instead. Annabeth, heartbroken, leaves Camp Half Blood to start a new life. But afterwards, Percy regrets what he did.
