Hello! I'm Ms. Persnickety Writer! You won't find any stories on here except maybe some funny parodies for my sole purpose is to critique writers. Now I'm not too much of a nitpick on grammar unless it's just undeniably horrible, but my forte will be critiquing things like plot, overall storyline, cliches, creativity and originality, the like. It won't be a flame and usually, I won't put it up as a review for everyone to see, I'll PM you and if I can't do that, you might get a long signed review with a critique. No I'm not being mean, no I'm not flaming, no I'm not being arrogant but I will point out the problems give solutions to them and it will be up to you whether to take it or let it alone. Now for FAQ: 1) Who does Ms. Persnickety critique? I critique anyone and everyone. I don't care if you have close to 1k+ reviews. I don't even care if you say in your profile that you went and got a bachelor's degree in English and creative writing and then a masters and now teach it to a class. To those type of folks, I know fifteen year old's that can compete with that. Educational backgrounds and so-called credentials don't impress me. It's the writing and if you're too arrogant to take it because you went and got a piece of paper that said you made it through 120-160 credit hours of school, then that's on you. 2) If you don't care about degrees and credentials and reviews, then what do you care about? What credentials do you have? The thing about college is that they teach you by the book. They teach you not to use but at the beginning of a sentence, to say 'This person and I', and take off points for fragments. Creative writing it a whole different game. It's exactly what it is, creative and so I don't care about their rules. You have to go on a case by case bases and some rules are meant to be broken, but they do have a set of particular rules and 'guidelines' that should be followed that college professors won't teach you, that your English teacher in high school didn't teach. So no. Degrees and the fact that you teach people to write by the book doesn't matter to me. Did I go to school? Yes. Did I learn all this in school? No. Where did you get you credentials then? Years of practicing writing since I was ten years old and joining writers groups and forums. Yes, I understand this is fanfiction, but creative writing rules apply. You think I'm mean? Go to this forum: Absolute Write Forums. Make a profile and go to the share your work forums. Those guys are brutal. But this is fanfiction. I'm not going to be that harsh. Read the forums by the way also. You might learn something. I know I learned goo gobs. 3) Well, what have you written? Prove you can do it. Ms. Persnickety Writer writes, but you won't find it on this profile. The astute ones of you might figure out where my other profile is, but I won't have people flaming my stories and telling me it sucks just because I critiqued them (not flamed). There's a difference. Go read a movie critique and tell me that's a flame. So for the sake of peace, you may find a few parodies with a moral at the end, but you won't find anything here for the sake of some pissed off writers blasting it to spite me. I'll update this more as I go. But for now, later. |
