Neither man’s breath nor foot disturbs the night
Leaving serenity hanging in its starry plight
The moon, the stars, the grass, the trees
All bathed in a silver sheen
Spiders steal into the night
Weaving webs of silvery delight
Leaving the fields in a silver gleam
And the world lying in a blissful sleep

The delicate threads of silver break
The woven webs of stillness shake
The sleeping birds wake and cry
Look deep into the starless sky
The stillness stirs, the night wakes
A new stillness born, in anticipation, waits
Raven birds, now silver, fly
And the shadows of the night sigh

I look out the window, gaze at the trees
A blend of black, silver and green
To the world the night lies still
But I can see it stir from my window sill
As I see your silver ghost, I know you are free
But I still need you back, here with me
And in your memory, my eyes with tears fill
No way to get you back, only my will

All that is left, faded photographs
Memories of good times, smiles and laughs
Talks of life greater than our own
Of traveling far, leaving home
Your life simply cut in half
Your pictures, giving echoes of your laugh
And with the memory I stand alone
Your presence alive in every leaf, river, stone

Under the tree where we used to play
The wind makes the tire swing sway
Not a soul approached it since you died
And it’s been years since I cried
I think about you night and day
Wonder why you went away
To stop the grief I always try
About my health, I smile and lie

I see you in your silver glow

A cloud covers the silver of the moon
