![]() Author has written 8 stories for Maximum Ride, and My Little Pony. Don't know how many people know this, but on goldencompassmovie offical site, you can find out your daemon and the official answer is I'm apparently modest, solitary, softly spoken, responsible and humble. Therefore I am matched to the Osprey Daemon called Olyandra. Orphius Name: Orphius. Not my real name, but I've grown attached to it. Daemon: Olyandra Location: Auckland, New Zealand. If you don't know where that is then... History: I was born in Taiwan, but moved to NZ when I was three years old. So in fact I consider NZ my real home. I have been back to Taiwan, but I dislike it there. It's too noisy, too crowded and just too many people. Likes: READING in the past year I've read over 500 books approximately, creative writing and the cold. All the clothes I own are t-shirts and short pants. Unfortunately, they are all black, I do own one red shirt though. Dislikes: Rapping, Gwen Stafani (Not sure about spelling) and Lilly Allens. I also dislike the heat. A special metion to iluvzuzu who is the first person to call me Emo. I've been called a lot of things most from myself, but Emo is a first. Congrats iluvzuzu you should feel proud. 92 percent of American teens would die if Abercombie and Fitch told them it was uncool to breathe. Copy this in your profile if you would be the 8 percent that would be laughing your ass off. If you or your best friend is insane copy and paste this onto your profile If you've ever asked a really stupid, obvious question, copy and paste this on your profile. If you've ever had a mad laughing fit for no reason, copy and paste this onto your profile. If you have ever gotten so completely sidetracked in a conversation that you don't remember why you were talking in the first place, copy this into your profile. If you've ever talked to yourself, copy and paste this into your profile. If you think that being unique is cooler than being cool, copy this on your profile. If there are times where you just wanna annoy someone for the heck of it copy this into your profile. XIII Favourite Books (These are in no particular order.) His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman Xanth by Piers Anthony Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffery Icefire by Chris D'Lacey Maximum Ride by James Patterson Redemption of Althalus by David Eddings Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud All Matthew Reily books All Tamora Pierce books Children of the Star by Sylvia Engdahl. Switchers Trilogy by Kate Thompson Eragon by Christopher Paolini Artemis Fowl by Eion Colfer Well, Olyandra's been bugging me lately, especially since her chapter got so many reviews. And so to stop her from annoying me any further for the time being, I've decided to give her, her own section on this profile. Anything said from now on will be from Olyandra and NOT me. OLYANDRA Name: Olyandra. Age: Same as Orphius as seen as I'm his daemon Gender: Guess. Likes: Warm weather (great thermals!!), reading and writing. Also annoying Orphius, but don't tell him that. Well as seen as Orphius has a section on favourite books, I've decided to place a section on the top 5 hottest guys that I've come across. Top III Hottest Guys 1. Fang from Maximum Ride: Hottest DNA recombiant EVER!! He's also 2 bird, what more could I ask for? 2. Tobias from Animorphs: Not only is he hot, but he's also a bird. Albet a Red Tail, but they aren't so bad. 3. Pan from Dark Materials: He's a Daemon and he's sweet. Maybe not as hot as Fang or Tobias, but he's sweet. So there you go. The top III according to me. Edward would be up higher, but the problem is that he's not part bird or a Daemon. I mean come on. He might be sexy and all that, but... This next section is written by both Olyandra and I. If you have any disagreements, please contact us and one of us will get back to you. This sections is on how our own definitions and have not used any resources anywhere. These are our own ideas and therefore subject to bias. In this section political language will be used therefore we will sound like a pair of pompous asses and condescending. DEFINITIONS Constructive Criticism This will be mentioned throughout this section as it defines many things. To me constructive criticism is when a reader states the problem in the text, states why he/she thinks it is a problem and then moves on to give possible solution(s). The last bit on possible solutions is not necessary when giving constructive criticism, however it gives the constructive criticism a much more completed feeling. Good Author A good author for us is one that can take constructive criticism, think it over and act on it if it is appropriate. If someone tells you that one of your characters are out of character, a good author will first reread the chapter the review is commenting on and decided if the accusation is founded. If it is, the author will go try to remedy that in future chapters and if there is time, rewrite the accused chapter. Therefore a good author may write crap stories with bad grammar, but is willing to change and become better. Bad Author A bad author will be one who can not take constructive criticism. When a reader or fellow author comments on something like a plot hole or characters been out of character, a bad author will not bother to see if it is correctly and immediately reply with a PM. I will not post up an example of such a response on this site. It is too undignified. Therefore, it is possible for a good story to have a bad author. Good Story A good story is a story that is one that is well written. There are limited mistakes that do not intrude on the story and the reader gets a sense of enjoyment out of reading the chapter and eagerly awaits the next chapter. It is possible for a good story to have a bad author as stated above. However, a good story should still receive constructive criticism so that the story can get better. Bad Story A bad story is one which ignores all conventional rules of writing and is just overall poorly written. The reader often winces at the grammar and wonder what they had gotten themselves into when they are reading the chapter. Each new update is often received with a case of dread and foreboding. As stated above, a bad story can have a good author, due to this; constructive criticism should always be given until whether the author is a good or bad author can be determined. Mary Sue's Before I even start, I have this to say. A Mary Sue is NOT an Original Character. These two things are separate and distinct from one another. Original Character's are well thought out, well developed characters while Mary Sue's are too perfect, too pretty etc. Wikipedia defines a Mary Sue as ". . .term used to describe a fictional character either male or female (male characters are often dubbed "Gary Stu", "Marty Stu", or similar names), that exhibits some or most of the cliches common to fanfiction." Olyandra has a simple test, if she rolls her eyes at the character, says "Yeah right!!" multiple times, it's a Mary Sue. Simple yet elegant and strangely it works more often than I'd like to admit. A Mary Sue to me is a character that's too perfect and exotic in far too many ways. For example, Krystal Remora Ala'han Stormweaver Maximum Desmon is 3 percent bird, 5 percent dolphin, 13 percent wolf and 80 percent human (note that adds up to 101 percent). Krystal Remora Ala'han Stormweaver Maximum Desmon's eyes normally resembles a wolfs as a result of the 13 percent, but they often change colour depending on her mood. Whenever Krystal Remora Ala'han Stormweaver Maximum Desmon gets injured, she heals at a remarkable rate and once survived having her throat slit. Krystal Remora Ala'han Stormweaver Maximum Desmon's first memory was when she was 13 years old, before that she can't remember anything, but she often finds herself having dreams of the main character as they make their journey. Privately in her heart she knew that it was her job to save the world and not theirs. Not only this, but- I'm sorry, I can't do this anymore. I'm not being paid enough. Not even Olyandra threatening me is going to work. I am not typing in more. Where's a buck of acid, I need to dip my hands in them and my eyes and I need to get a new computer and. . . Olyandra here, sorry about that, but Orphius's not typing anymore and he's gone off cleanse himself. Personally, I'm not going to type anymore either. As it is, I'm typing this on a seperate computer. As seen as we mainly write in Maximum Ride, for Maximum Ride specific example check out this Link Original Characters Original Characters are characters that are well developed, with a good solid background story. These differ from Mary Sue's in the fact that they are realistic and believable. They are 3D and cast a shadow. Not much more to say really. If you want to see if your character is Original or a Mary Sue use this site to check. Read the instructions and follow as directed. Other similar tests can be found by googling Mary Sue Litmus Test. This is only the beginning; more will be added at a later date. Once again, any comments are appreciated. |
