Merlin was only a normal teenager with normal problems when he found out he was the son of a King. Along with royal duties, a protective brother, hounding paparazzi, and evil step-mother and step-sister, Merlin thought his life couldn't get any worse until he met the heir of the British Throne. Merlin was squinting at him, concentrating very hard. Arthur waited for him to say whatever it was he was thinking so hard about. What he finally got was, "Fight me." Arthur was hard-pressed not to laugh out loud. Merlin looked so determined, his chin up and eyes narrowed, but he was obviously still high as balls. In which Arthur is a nurse and Merlin is on copious pain meds.

When Merlin falls into bed with Arthur, he doesn't expect for to wake up alone. He doesn't expect Arthur to give him the cold shoulder either, but there is something else he expects even less which forces him out of the kingdom for over a year. He returns to find a traitor in the court, an army on the way, and a love he'd thought all but lost waiting for him with open arms.

As Arthur rides to Nemeth to join the festivities of Mithian's upcoming union, a member of her court is putting a plot into motion. Soon Arthur finds himself trapped inside his own mind and stirring up trouble between the two kingdoms against his will. Merlin stands as his only hope, unaware that while Arthur's actions are not his own, his mind is far from dormant. No Slash

"Didn't you just hear me idiot? I said anyone who bears this will be my brother in all but blood. I don't know of a time in two hundred years when one of my family gave this to another, my father didn't even give Morgana one... Rarely is this ever done, but rarely is there a person worthy of it," King Arthur nodded. "I deem you worthy, Merlin," he told him.

Arthur absolutely hates thunderstorms, so when a terrible one breaks out in Camelot for a week, he's forced to confront a deep fear. Merlin tries to help, but ends up doing so in a way he never could have anticipated. Merthur slash, Arthur/Merlin.

Something seemed to be playing on Merlin's mind and Arthur was determined to get to the bottom of it. For one thing; he was his friend, king and master. For another thing; reports were boring and it seemed like a better thing to do.

Sorcery is banned in Camelot, so Arthur can't fathom why anyone would seek the sorcerer Emrys within the castle walls. That would mean he's unwittingly harbouring a sorcerer, and that's ridiculous. Isn't it? (No slash; possible reveal fic) Sequel posted.

He didn't know how long he held this connection, pouring his magic into Arthur's body and soul, but when he next looked down, Arthur's wound was completely gone. Finally, gasping, Merlin wrenched his hands away from Arthur, whose eyes flew open. They were glowing gold. (T for some gore.)
