Midoriya is a kind boy able to turn into a mass of tentacles and teeth. Whether this is his quirk or if he is an eldritch abomination from beyond space is debatable. Despite being a nightmare made flesh he has the drive to be a hero. Even if his classmates are trying to banish him to the outer realms, or worship him as a god.

Izuku wanted to be a hero even before he knew what quirk he had. Anima Cacciatore finds a quirkless six-year-old boy with the 'will of a hero' as he called it. When people asked Hisashi what his Quirk was, he'd flash a grin and say he breathed fire. It was a small lie, easier to say than 'my human skin is too small and some bits slip out' despite the fact he never checked whether or not he had that toe joint. Izuku wasn't born Quirkless. He was born something else.

When Midoriya didn't show up for class on Monday nobody thought anything of it. They should have. Now, six weeks have passed with no clue as to where he is. When they find him, he's been traumatized and tortured, leaving him a shell of his former self. They know it'll take a long time for him to heal, but they're determined to help him. After all, they're in it for the long haul.

This is a story the tries to answer the question, what if Izuku decided to get a little more serious about becoming a hero a little earlier than cannon. He meets Tsuyu of all people after a particularly soul crushing beating from Bakugou, but Tsuyu manages to relight his determination. Strong but not OP Izuku, Main pairing IzuTsuyu since I freakin love it. Rated M for language.
