When Voyager runs into a ship the Caretaker 'sent home' that didn't exactly arrive where it was supposed to, Kathryn is forced to reevaluate her guilt over stranding her ship in the DQ. And the fact that one of the people on that ship knows Chakotay, intimately, causes her to reevalute some things in her personal life as well.

New Earth changes the course of events. He noticed she didn't once turn to look at him, staring straight ahead, and her voice was the strict voice of a stern commanding officer. There was no hint of softness, playfulness, or joy; there was no hint of Kathryn. My first fan fic.
