After one year of marriage, Francis' eye begins to wander. Devastated, Mary seeks comfort in arms that have been close by the whole time.

He may not have been competing, but there was only one person Mary could think of to give her favour, little did she know the trouble it was going to cause. At least, in her mind, it was worth it.

Sebastian fights for Mary, but she is weary of her current situation. She is bound to Francis, but loves another. Francis on the other hand has conditionally given Mary her freedom. To gain Mary's full affection, Sebastian battles to be legitimized by Royal Decree. Their relationship endeavours in secret.

Bash has a late night visitor. Is he dreaming? Mary/Bash. Both POVs. What I wish had happened after episode 6: Chosen. Mash really needed to talk about their kiss, the pagan attack & Francis being such a jerk (my words, not theirs ;) Hopefully my fic is better than my summary!)
