I haven't read the graphic novels since James O'Barr signed my copy at the Novi Comic Con years ago. I haven't thought of the Crow since I finished growing up. Yet there I found myself, sitting in a dirty bathroom of a back alley hotel in Rome at 3 in the morning, furiously scribbling words into a yellow legal pad. It wasn't written in the shadows from the tortured depths of my soiled soul. Or anyone else's soiled soul, for that matter. In fact, the light in the bathroom was quite bright. Almost operation room bright. The tiles were cold and my back ached and the ideas came pouring out. It only took an hour to write them all down. I saw them as scenes in my mind, like a disjointed movie. I saw faces. I heard intonations. And without much thought, I wrote myself a script. Then I forgot about it again. Until a month later, long returned from Europe, long back itno the groove of my normal life. I woke up at 4 in the morning and told myself I was stupid. Why write this thing as a script? A script assumes a movie will be made of it one day. I didn't take a screenwriting class or get an English degree like Erika or Jeremy. But I couldn't just leave it in a notebook that would eventually end up forgotten in my attic. So I've decided to put it here. It is under the movie section of The Crow because I DID originally invision it to be a movie. Oh, and by the way, yes, I go to City Club, Detroit's only actual Goth club. And no, I don't go dressed as the Crow." ~Lore |
