For those that aren't aware of this yet, for the past 48h, some stories of this type have been deleted from the site due to "copyright infringements".

THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST "Harry Potter Co. reads Harry Potter and the [insert title HAS BEGUN!

Don't care how well they're written, don't care how amusing it is to see the characters' reactions, if the story quotes more than one quarter its word count of ANY chapter from the book it deserves to be reported for plagiarism. These fan fiction authors do NOT own the Harry Potter series, yet they are presenting entire chapters of the books in their own work. Disclaimer's don't matter if they copy the book word for word anyway. As Raining Ink put it:

Write a "Group of Characters read the Book in Which They are Featured" Fic.

DO NOT DO IT. I'm sure I'm hurting some feelings with this, but there is avery good reason not to. I have never, ever, read one of these that wasn't a horendous work of plagiarism. Yes, it's fun and funny to see how Draco Malfoy responds to the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Super. BUT. You can't write this fic without copying massive amounts of the author's original work. I've seen entire chapters of novels retyped. The fact that the "writer(aka typist) used quotation marks didn't change the fact that I could have read the original author's story without paying for it. This is plagiarism, not fanfiction. It is illegal, unethical, and stupid.

If I find your fan fiction that does this I WILL REPORT IT!

As you can see, this person, an author just like me, has decided to do another redbutton fiasco all over again.
