Hello! Before I begin this story I would like to state the fact that none of these characters are my own and that I'm merely burrowing them. I hope you enjoy. Chapter one Flapjack awoke to the sound of Captain K'nuckles;' his adventuring master, yelling, "Flapjack!" Flapjack would have easily drifted back to sleep if his name hadn't of been called a second time; or a third time. He slowly peeled his eyes open blinking at the sudden light that poured through 'Bubbie the whale's' blowhole and shone directly into his face. "What is it captain?" Flapjack asked groggily while proposing several failed attempts to lift himself up onto his feet. "We need to go now!" K'nuckles' shrieked assisting the small blond-haired boy up onto his feet by lifting him from his puny shoulders. "What's the hurry?" Flapjack's question went unanswered and before he even had the chance to ask again he was seized by the hand and, literally, dragged out of 'Bubbie the whale's' mouth where he had slept so soundly during the night. The small boy couldn't help but acknowledge a rush of excitement that traveled through his (so 'he' called) adventurous mind. "Boy," he said after being bombarded up the splintering dock steps, "This must really be something important." He stated this, mainly, to recieve a response from K'nuckles' but, yet again, the boy remained ignored. Flapjack arched an eyebrow and lifted a curious finger and a shot-up thumb towards his chin using his free hand; the one that wasn't being crushed by Captain K'nuckels' vigorous grip, wondering to himself, 'what could possibly be so important?' It came as no surprise to the boy that they were headed for 'The Candy Barrel,' their usual 'hang out place;' or so Captain K'nuckles reffered to it as. "All this over candy?" Flapjack asked as the captain stormed into The Candy Barrel with a small boy in a striped sailor's T-shirt carried firmly at his side. The boy managed to release his palm from K'nuckles' grasp and then stood on his own slender legs, staring up toward the captain; who, in term, appeared to be maintaining his current position as though he were altered into a statue. Flapjack waved his hand in front of Captain K'nuckles' face to try and steal his attention but discovered that his tactic would be more difficult to achieve than he had predicted. "Uh...captain?" Flapjack said; more to himself than to K'nuckles'. "Shh!" K'nuckles hissed. "Quiet down boy." He said, swatting at the air. Flapjack held his tongue as commanded. He stared up at Captain K'nuckle s' for a short moment with his mouth in the shape of a small O; then he he altered his attention toward the direction the captain seemed to be devoted upon. Before his own beady dark (rather large) eyes he witnessed, practically, everyone in 'Stormalong Harbor' clustered together in The Candy Barrel residence; all of them staring in the same direction; which was toward the countertop at the end of the room where 'Peppermint Larry' would always sell his candy beverages. The only thing that seemed to be missing at the counter was Peppermint Larry himself. That is until the tall, rather lank, man sprung up from behind the C-shaped shelf, literally, like a jack-in-the-box, with his arms spread out as if he were expecting a hug from everyone. But all he got in return was a shriek of surprise from all of his customers. "Hello there!" Peppermint Larry said with a hint of excitement in his ear-splitting voice. The room went awkwardly silent for a short moment until Captain Handthony raised his hook; of which was his left hand, and blurted out, "When are we gonna get this started?" Everyone appeared to agree with the large one-eyed man's question and all nodded in agreement. Soon the room echoed loudly with the (all too) familiar sound of curious conversations regarding the same event that had taken Flapjack away from the comforts of his bed and dragged him to The Candy Barrel. "All right! All right!" Peppermint Larry sang, swaying his hands skyward to recieve everyone's attention. Soon all of the eyes that flooded the room were beset upon the tall hotdog-shaped candy salesman. That's all I have so far. I hope it was worth reading. I'll finish the rest of it...I'm not entirely sure when but I'm quite certain that it will be soon. Hello again. I am aware that I told you I would finish this story soon; however I’m not quite done yet. But I did add on to it a bit and I hope you enjoy the second half. “Now, I’m sure, we all know, that today is a very special day?” He waited for a nod of heads before continuing, "we should all gather our items and prepare for tonight." Like human sized sponges, the crowd absorbed every simple detail transferred to them. "I have an idea!" Answered a chubby man with a white mustache that might have served for small birds wings. "Let's all gather our items and prepare for tonight!" Captain Ridiculous finished with a response as worthy as his name. "Great idea!" Captain K'nuckles' answered, finally speaking. "But first!" Peppermint Larry held up a finger and then sunk back underneath the table. The clueless crowd of clueless people all clustered around the shelf like ants to a picnic. Peppermint Larry, without warning, shot up from behind the table once more; this time baring gifts. A collection of three or four glass mugs, in each hand, with a variety of colored candies filled inside of them. It didn't take a genius to know what the skinny man's next response was going to be. "How about some candy?" Flapjack was aware that this was just an excuse for money. But, as always, the excuse fulfilled it's purpose and shiny glimmering coins, literally, were tossed in the air, landing almost perfectly on top of the counter. Flapjack opened his mouth to speak to K'nuckles' but stopped himself when he realized his adventuring master was part of the crowd. The blond-haired boy sighed, he knew that it would only be a matter of time before he and K'nuckles' were thrown out of the Candy Barrel by the fact that they seemingly never possessed money of any sort. |
