This is the second story. Please start with The Pursuit. Following the events of The Pursuit, WotB continues the story of the deadly case Nick and Judy thought they had finished recently. With Rolen still at large, they must find new allies and make choices they will not like if they want to keep Zootopia and their families safe.

Knowledge was a key. It unlocked the mind, it freed the spirit. Almost no one knew about life outside the city-state, no one except for those in control. Nick had always lived a life of outcast and discrimination, but as society begins to crumble, he must do what he can to find the answers rarely asked for — and more importantly — to survive in a corrupted world turned against him.

Begins with an expanded peek at Nick Wilde's Academy training, graduation, and first day as a cop with Judy Hopps, then follows the life of Nick and Judy and their budding friendship that becomes more than either imagined. There will be some crimes, life on the beat, slice of life/fluff, and a big undercover caper that will test both of their skills as individuals and partners.

Working for the ZPD is a demanding job, especially when you are the first of your kind on the force. Although Nick and Judy make an effective team, trying to balance the demands of work while still maintaining a social life is a challenge of all its own—especially in the face of social pressures brought by living in a city still recovering from pred/prey tensions.

Judy and Nick are wrapping up their careers as patrollers and moving up in the echelons of the ZPD. Not a moment too soon, as a seemingly open-and-shut case reveals a deadly conspiracy that could tear the megalopolis apart. The relative harmony of Zootopia is still millennia away. The bronze age is a time of constant conflict, not only between species, but within them. In this age of xenophobia, perhaps bridges could still be built between rabbits and foxes. Or at least between one specific rabbit, and one specific fox. Rated for violence.

This story does contain some violence and mature themes, though most are later in the story. Expect some drama along the way, as this story is NOT short and will twist and turn over its course.

One year after the incident that nearly divided the city of Zootopia in half, Judy and Nick have been making the best of their time as partners on the ZPD. Though things have been relatively quiet since then, the agenda of a new activist group coupled with an apparent resurgence of assaults threatens to throw the city into a panic once more.

Nick and Judy decide to hang out together, and things take on a turn for the tipsy. Three-shot.
