Following the events of Metroid Fusion, Samus Aran is killed in action by a new strain of the X parasite. Her consciousness transferred to a new body, she and a small Federation military fleet must reenter the now-quarantined star system to recover her original body and its invaluable Metroid DNA before it falls into the wrong hands.
