Bartleby lives in the East Bay, works in San Francisco, California, and is old enough to rent a car. A professional by day and a dreamer by night, Bartleby holds a BS in Finance and considers writing OC fanfic the guiltiest and most secret of pleasures. It’s disturbingly easy to distract Bartleby with pizza or lasagna, kosher dill pickles, and puppies.

Compulsions

• Spending hours researching the tiniest of details for accuracy
• Aging younger canon characters closer to my own age
• Treating canon as inviolable law

I prefer writing post-canon and/or off-screen and I don't alter gender, sexuality, relationships, assign relatives, etc. I love the characters I love because of the way the original author portrayed them. For me, it's also an issue of respect - it feels disrespectful to take someone else's creation and edit it so that it conforms with my view of what could or should be.

Critique

Well-considered and respectful critique will always be welcome. Compliments and flattery are sweet but I’d rather learn to write better. Plot holes, inconsistencies, mischaracterization, scene sequencing, flow, logic, laws of physics… don’t hesitate to point them out. I’m less concerned with grammar and so on as my writing isn’t – unintelligible. I think.

Triggers

• Mischaracterized canon characters
• Underdeveloped original characters
• Broken canon
• Erroneous or distorted setting details so blatant my immersion in your tale is impossible
• Disjointed story lines
• Poor grammar and spelling that border on illiteracy
