Tony was ten when he lost the ability to read after an accident involving a brain injury. He's managed to hide the disability from almost everyone for decades and he intends to keep it that way, but then the other Avengers move in and Tony realizes that inviting them was a very bad decision.

Tony really was the only one who did the reading.

He was Tony Stark. Mouthing off was as natural as breathing. So when there wasn't as much chatter as normal coming through the com in his cowl, Steve felt rather justified to worry. Except. Well… He wasn't exactly worrying. It was a lot more akin to panic.
