An open letter to the writer/character designer or whoever is responsible for DarliFranXX.

In trying to analyze Zero Two's character, I've come to some realizations that made me drop the fic I was working on.

It's hard for me to relate to a character who has shown indifference to the consequences of their action, even though her actions has led to the death of people. And I don't even mean the unfortunate stamens forced to pilot with her. Code 090's pistil partner who was killed off-screen.

It's hard to sympathize with a character who was so obsessed about becoming a human to the point of killing, or attempting to kill the only one who has reached out and tried to understand her.

Was that perhaps meant to be an irony?

And despite the time she has spent with Hiro, with the others, she learned nothing. She went on killing off her partners. It bothers me that some fans can stil sympathize with her on this, or find some excuse to justify her behavior. Killing is wrong. Period.

What's even more disturbing is we're supposed to like/sympathize with this character? Being that she's the main heroine. Good God.

Nevermind the backstory, it just felt like a cover up after the crime has been committed. Damage control, if you must.

No, it doesn't make it right that she has been experimented on, tortured physically, mentally and maybe even sexually to excuse Zero Two for her disregard of people's life. That doesn't make her a sympathetic character, it only made her look like a psychopath in the making.

She was going to consume Hiro, but fortunately for him, he's the 'darling' she'd been looking for. Now what if, he wasn't? Or what if Hiro didn't recall his memories on time? What then?

And I don't like how her subsequent abuse was handled. No, just no. Traumatised, abused children do not magically get healed because they found their one true love.

I don't even know how the show expects us to just believe that all is well and dandy now that Zero Two has finally found her 'darling'.

For the love of God, if you want to characterize an abuse/trauma survivor, do it right.
