![]() Author has written 4 stories for X-overs. Tessa awoke to the sound of low murmurs that were audible, coming from the other side of the wall. Her hand flew to her clockwork angel that was sprawled against her chest. The angels constant ticktock, ticktock like the beating of a second heart, giving her reassurance. "I need to see if she's okay." said a low, familiar voice. Will. "She needs to rest, give her some time. Poor girl, she took a hit to her head pretty badly." said another. As if on time Tessa's head started throbbing, she could barely remember what happened the night before, or how she even ended up here. Her clothes had smelt of metal and night air, she had a deep wound on her forearm that was now covered by a patch of white fabric. Her hair was plastered to the back of her neck by the sweat that was starting to take over. A shuffle came from behind the walls, then footsteps sounded, nearing towards her room. The handle of her door had turned with a click before revealing Will, who had looked like death itself. His hair was scruffy, his clothes were hanging loosely against his body. His eyes had the darkest shade of blue she had ever recalled seeing. "Tessa" Said Will almost as if she had imagined it. Her name had lingered through the air. His british accent sounding her name perfectly. Tessa had looked at him, she wanted to touch him, wanted him to comfort her and tell her everything was going to be okay. But didn't. Will had come closer to her bed, sitting at the edge of it, never taking his eyes off of her. Within those eyes, they had a hint of sadness and relief. "Everything that happened yesterday" He had said. Will had sounded so hesitant and so unsure of what to say. "Your brother...You getting hurt. It was all my fault." Last nights events had rushed back to Tessa. Her brother she had known all her life, dead. Eyes that stared at her - or through her. Looking into darkness as his lifeless body was surrounded by a pool of blood. Then the next minute De Quincey had attacked, and Tessa was unconscious. It all had seemed like a blur. The screams of last night had echoed in her head. "Nate's body...where is it?" Tessa had choked out. Trying to stop the tears that threatened to spill. "Jem took his body to the institute. They want to perform the funeral as soon as you get better." Will's face had turned pure bleak as he spoke. Tessa had looked up at him, who was already staring intently at her eyes. Her vision was blurred by warm tears spilling. She had hated crying infront of people, and worst of all, in front of Will. Will had edged closer to her, thumbing away the tears that raced on her cheeks. Tessa leaned forward and was inches away from Will's face. His scent had made her feel dizzy. The way his hands had formed muscularly as they rested on her cheek. Will drew Tessa close and had crashed his lips onto hers, like waves crashing onto shore. Her mouth no longer tasted salty tears but Will's damp ones desperately kissing hers. The fiery passion had ignited. Will had drew his head back. "I have to go.." he whispered. He stood up and walked away, and for the first time, hadn't turned to look back at her. As the door closed, Tessa had felt completely alone, staring into complete darkness. |
