![]() Author has written 57 stories for Trixie Belden, Bones, X-Files, Pride and Prejudice, and Blindspot. *Due to the deaths of both my parents this year, Mother from unexpected Pancreatic cancer in January and Father last week, all writing is currently on permanent hold. I have to get my home ready for sale, find a new and smaller place and sort out the anxiety issues with my son. I hope to see you all soon. *. Why write Trixie Fanic? When I was 12 years old, I lived in a small mining town called Pannawonica, about a million kilometers from anywhere. Once my four girlfriends and I received our first Trixie Belden books, we were hooked. All fired up by Trixie and her gang, we wanted something mysterious to happen in our lives. So, with the idealism of youth behind us, we formed the Kookaburra’s of the Outback. Five prepubescent girls, stuck in a town cut off from all civilization for many months of the year due to cyclones and the wet season. At this point I should mention the town had a population of 1000 people. Not nearly enough to support a High School. So teenagers where shipped off to boarding schools around the state for their secondary education. Pen, Jen, Jay, Lew and I had only months before being split up. Not surprising we took to the ethos of one for all and all for one. Both Jay and I were to go to Christian All Girl Boarding Colleges in Perth which were no where near each other. Lew stayed with her grandparents in Mandurah and attended the local high school. Jen, with three older siblings stayed in town and did correspondence until her parents divorced. I have no idea what happened to Pen. At the time our principles were similar to those of the Bob Whites. They stirred something in each of us as we reached out to become adults in our own right. We wanted to be like them, kind, giving, close knit and moral. Our first meeting was a disaster as we couldn’t decide on a president. Our club house was only available in the wet season. The shack served as the town airport. It was clean and dry when the runway was a boggy marsh and unusable by light aircraft. Our first fundraiser for the World Wide Animal Foundation netted only a few dollars. We were demoralized and disappointed. The long dry came, we moved on to other pursuits and our club was forgotten. What can I say, we were egocentric pre-teens trying to live up to our own expectations. By summer we were in Perth and about to start High School without one another. We grew up and grew apart. I still see Jay but the others have disappeared with time. Yet in the twenty years since, I have reread my Trixie Belden books and wondered what would have become of the BWG’s had they grown up? Could I carry on the tale? My first books were romantic works of fiction, mostly dedicated to exploring facets of my own personality. I identified with Trixie so well, always wished I could have Honey’s tact and hoped to one day meet a man like Brian or Jim. My own very fertile imagination saw the characters as adults, going through the same trials and tribulation as myself. So after looking on the internet to see if any one else loved Trixie and her gang as much as I did, I realised there was hope for me yet, and fans a lot more engrossed than I am! So here they are, my stories furnished from my own imagination. Please enjoy as much as I have enjoyed the creation. Who am I? My real name is Melissa, but I like to be known as Lyssa. I am 40 years of age (in 2011). I have had several career changes over the years. I trained as a research Immunologist, only to find no funding for medical advancement. So I applied for a position at a bank and became a manager in short order. Although the position taught me about customer service, I wasn’t unhappy to be retrenched in 1998. Lost, I traveled the world for four years in the guise of finding myself before returning home to Australia. I went back to university and trained as a nurse. I now work at one of the major hospitals and love my new career. I’m not married, although I had a close call once, believe me once was enough. Unless I one day enter a fantasy world… Where do I live? I live in the Southern suburbs of Perth. Being the capital of Western Australia, it is situated on the Swan River and an ideal place to live. We have more sunlight and great beaches here than any place in the world I have seen. Added to the quiet, relaxed lifestyle, its no wonder I finally realized this is my home and the only place I want to live. There is population of about 1 million people in the greater city which gives the best of both worlds. Although I will travel again, (currently plans are for New Zealand and China) I will always return here. After all it is my home. I also write science fiction/anime under the name Cpt Kallan Beyda. This love started at about the same time as my dedication to Trixie Belden. Anyway, if you'd like to read some of my other works, please join me at |
