![]() Author has written 1 story for Batman Begins/Dark Knight. For all the Batman fans - check out this web-series! Why I read fan-fiction: When a story gets in my head, from a Hollywood movie to an obscure book, it won't leave. I like to explore characters, and depending on the story, the 'world' that's been created. The Nature of OOC: Character study is not just about examining what a character would do, its about examining what a character wouldn't do. When fan-fiction goes OOC, I see that as a way to define the boundaries of the characters we know. Otherwise, how could anyone label their story as OOC in the first place? No matter how ridiculous a character gets, we only 'know' it is ridiculous by comparing that characterization to what we've already defined for that character. Boundaries are meant to be challenged. Freedom: Fan-fiction is free. While that's handy for all of the readers, its perfect for creative expression. When you're writing for the sheer joy of telling a story, a story that you are not being paid to write, you are FREE to do whatever you wish. You are not confined to the boundaries of the original author in any way. Feedback: I am the first the admit I do not always leave reviews for the stories I read, never-mind a particular chapter. However, in general, the fan-fiction forum is a perfect place to share ideas and improve skills. My Stories: I've only posted one 'story', and as of right now, it's excerpts from a much larger story that I've been writing off and on for months. The other story I posted was really based on a dream I had, and I had to write it down to get it out of my head. Its pure fluff. My Favorites: I have many more favorite stories than I have listed here, as well as authors. I am always so anxious to set up the story alert, that I forget to add to my favorites. If I have added your story to my alert, consider it a favorite. Interests: I am only published in the scientific community, however, that science is psychology (hence my focus on character study in stories). I am also an actor. Working up characters, combined with my scientific study of behavior, is behind most of my desire to read the works of others, and to write my own. I can work through more characters by writing, and reading, than I can by acting, simply because shows and movies take so much time to produce. Story Interests, or, what I currently read on this forum: Jane Austen, Batman Begins/The Dark Knight. Note: I have many story interests, however, I tend to only read fan-fiction for the ones that have attracted a lot of fan-fiction responses. |
