it is my personal preference that fanfiction remains as close to the canon source material as possible, and only change whatever details or events are necessary to allow the story to happen. in the stories I write, I do take a lot of care to make my work as accurate and canon-compliant as possible, and to make any changes or additions feel like natural extensions of the existing world

in my zelda stories, I will adhere to the official hyrule historia timeline, even if it means retconning lore into games that did not have it (looking at you, skyward sword). in my harry potter stories, I consider only the books to be canon, and all events and details are taken only from the books unless specifically noted

if there are any canon facts or details that I happen to get wrong, however trivial, I would really appreciate being told so that I may correct it
