25/11/10 Time for a profile update!

Hello everyone!

So I'm a teen whose personality is pretty shy but varies depending on the company I am in. If you haven't already guessed, I am most certainly a girl. What sort of guy would have bellathedisenchanted as his username? -giggles-

Anyway.=)

I absolutely love reading, and writing both original stories and fanfiction. I first found this site few years ago, and have stayed on ever since.=) Its been wonderful, talking to brilliant writers, commenting, reading stories fondly written by fans for those cherished books and movies. Its a lovely community out here, at least in the fandoms I've been involved with, and I'm most deliriously happy to be a part of this place.

My aim here is write stories that other fans will enjoy, as well as to just have a blast. Which really, is what fanfics are about.=) And although it won't be glaringly obvious, fanfics definitely improve your writing. I welcome constructive criticsm, as I've received from lots of lovely people. However, I ask people to be aware of the wide boundaries between tips and flames. Flames horrify me, its something no author should ever have to face, no matter the quality of their work. Putting someone down is simply wrong. Someone who has done no wrong to you.

On a Sears hairdryer: Do not use while sleeping. ( that's the only time I have to work on my hair).

On a bag of Fritos! ..You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside. (the shoplifter special)?

On a bar of Dial soap: "Directions: Use like regular soap." (and that would be how?...)

On some Swanson frozen dinners: "Serving suggestion: Defrost." (but, it's "just" a suggestion).

On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom): "Do not turn upside down." (well...duh, a bit late, huh)!

On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding: "Product will be hot after heating." (...and you thought?...)

On packaging for a Rowenta iron: "Do not iron clothes on body." (but wouldn't this save me more time?)

On Boot's Children Cough Medicine: "Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication." (We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5-year-olds with head-colds off those forklifts.)

This broom does not actually fly. (Dang, no fair.)

The appliance is switched on by setting the 'ON/OFF' button to the 'ON' position. (you haven't mentioned how to switch it OFF!!!)

On a ketchup bottle:
Instructions: Put on food.

On a bottle of rum:
Open bottle before drinking. (why not swallow it all? Much more wholesome...)

A sign in a street in Hong Kong:
Beware of people. (...)

Rules on a tram in Prague:
Beware! To touch these wires is instant death. Anyone found doing so will be persecuted. (this is actually a real law in a few countries.)

On a bottle of baby lotion:
Keep away from children.

On a pair of socks bought in egypt:
Do not wash. (my mum so appreciates this...)

On a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle:
Some assembly required.

On a can of pepper spray used for self defense:
May irritate eyes.

Directions for mosquito repellant:
Replacing battery: replace old battery with a new one. (this is the 21st century right?)

On a birthday card for a one year old:

Do not attempt to swallow (and I'm sure we've all tried that sometime...)

This is a story about God. Read if you believe in him, and read even if you don't.

A teenage girl about 17 named Diane had gone to visit some friends one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year. She ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away.

As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked God to keep her safe from harm and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he were waiting for her. She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for God's protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped round her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safely.

The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there. Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed. The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her. She asked if they would ask the man one question. Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall men walking on either side of her." Amazingly, whether you believe or not, you're never alone. Did you know that 98 of teenagers will not stand up for God, and 93 of the people that read this won’t repost it.

In my opinion, we all post fan fiction because we love to write and because this gives us an audience that can read and review our work. I know my writing has improved considerably since I began posting on ff and I appreciate everyone who's helped me with that. This is a community so we all need to contribute to make it function. In that vein, if you review me, I'll review you (if I know the fandom)

I also believe in reviewing a story regardless of how old it is and in reviewing every (or maybe every second) chapter. Let's face it, writing "that was great" at the end of a 30-chapter story is hardly helpful. I will also NEVER favourite a story without reviewing it. Although it me fly, I'd also love a review telling me why. Even a simple "I like it" would make my day. Usually I love almost every story I read out here ( you people are so talented!) so I never leave without something as simple as a thank you. I hope you do it too.=)
