I'm a college student. I'm from the States. I like to read and write. I read/write both (well-written) non-slash and slash. Ahem Well...perhaps mine isn't well-written...but suffice to say, I'm picky with my reading habits. My true joy in life, especially in the fanfiction world, comes from picking other people's writing apart. I can't be objective with my own work, and I know all of it is worthy of some of my more scathing critiques. That's why I don't post. It goes against every fiber of my being to post crap. You may be wondering if I have hobbies besides telling other people what they should do differently in their writing... I do. I am an English major, with an emphasis on creative writing, so I spend much of my time writing novel-length essays on why a better writer than me (who has actually been published) has poorly-constructed arguments. When I'm not doing that, I listen to music and read actual books. I'm a casual fan of Star Trek: The Original Series. I enjoy Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and JAG, among other movies and TV shows. I don't like any pairings from Star Trek. I often enjoy Elrond/Celebrian in Lord of the Rings. I like multiple pairings in HP; in that fandom, I think it depends more on the quality of the writing. Can you sell me the pairing? If you're good, you probably can. In JAG, the only pairing I like is Harm/Mac. Yes, I know they date other people. I don't really care. At the end of the series, they (finally) get together, and that's all that matters. A little Bud/Harriet thrown in for comic relief is always good, since they're an established canon pairing as well. Genre depends, again, on the quality of the writing. If you can sell me humor, that's great. Overall, I think I'm predisposed toward drama/angst stories, but I give all of them a fair chance. I'm actually quite boring. You probably ought to move on to someone else now, don't you think? |
